Swedish McDonalds founder dead aged 87

His son writes it Mats Lederhausen in a post on Linkedin:

“Earlier today I lost my father, friend, pillar of support and eternal source of inspiration”.

Paul Lederhausen founded McDonald’s in Sweden in 1971. He was CEO of the hamburger chain in Sweden until 1993 when his son took over.

He also founded the fund that finances the Ronald McDonald House in Sweden. They function as a home for families with children who need to be in hospital for an extended period of time. This after his daughter Erica Lederhausen passed away from cystic fibrosis at only 16 years old.

In 2009, Paul Lederhausen sold the last part of his holding in the Swedish part of McDonald’s, writes Di.
