A different burial ground is being built in Järva – with the help of horses

For several years, the city of Stockholm has planned for a new burial ground in the Järva area. This is because the population in this area is growing and there are many people with different outlooks on life.

– We see that the need for coffin graves, for example, is great here in Järva, says Annelie Sjöström, at the City of Stockholm.

When SVT Stockholm was visiting, there were also two horses on site to contribute to the construction. This by pulling up large iron beams to the memorial groves.

– We choose to use the horses because they don’t damage the ground as much as an excavator. We work in a sensitive environment, says Annelie Sjöström.
