On the first Monday in May since 1948, the Met Gala in New York has attracted the absolute hottest artists, models and actors in the world – all of whom showed up in outstanding creations, some of which have made headlines.
When KIm Kardashian took “the steps” at the 2022 gala, it was dressed in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic dress that she wore when she sang “Happy Birthday Mr. President” in John F Kennedy’s 45th birthday in 1962, or when Kim in 2021 chose an all-covering black suit from Balenciaga.

Other memorable moments are when Rihanna in 2015 arrived in a yellow, huge dress designed by Guo Pei. The dress generated countless memes that meant it actually resembled a fried egg, something Harper’s Bazaar wrote about.

Katy Perry she is also a star who is known for not being afraid to try something different, so to speak – and she has made an entrance both as a hamburger and a candlestick.

This year’s Met Gala was all the more subdued, where the theme for this year was “The Garden of Time” which will serve as a complement to the exhibition Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Therefore, flowers in all their colors and shapes dominated the white carpet. Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour – and whoever is responsible for the guest list at the Met Gala – opted for a black coat from Loewe adorned with embroidered flowers.
Kylie Jenner had a pink rose in her hair and Usher came with red plastic roses in hand, while others drove a much wilder style like Lana del Rey who chose a specially designed dress from Alexander McQueen – complete with a piece of tree as a crown.
Everyone’s talking about Kim Kardashian at the 2024 Met Gala
The big question is whether Kim Kardashian has once again created fashion history. During this year’s Met Gala, she chose a silver dress designed by John Galliano for Maison Margiela Couture, and over her shoulders she wore a gray sweater.
Social media has been abuzz about both Kim’s impossibly thin waist, but something that almost caused even stronger reactions is that the light gray sweater Kim wore was completely pimply.
When Vogue shared an interview with Kim where she talked about the idea behind her outfit, not many readers bought her story.
– My look is inspired by the wildest night of my life in a garden, I just ran out and put on my boyfriend’s shirt, threw it on and started working. And my hair is all messed up!, she said.
But this year’s Met Gala wasn’t just about Kim Kardashian – there were of course hundreds of other famous faces in attendance, and the red carpet offered both top hits and some bottom licks.
