SVT’s foreign correspondent Carl Fridh Kleberg believes that Putin will focus on the war in Ukraine for the next six years.
– In the short term, it is likely that society at all levels will have to be restructured to feed the Russian war machine, he says.
This means that more soldiers are needed, something that is not particularly popular among the population.
– There is a political apathy where many Russians do not support the war, but they are not against it either – as long as they themselves are not affected, says Carl Fridh Kleberg.
Another important issue for Putin will be Russia’s self-sufficiency.
– As early as ten years ago, Russia began to adjust to become independent from the outside world. They have secured themselves against sanctions much more than many thought.
Hear Carl Fridh Kleberg tell which issues Putin will pursue during his upcoming presidential term in the clip above.
