According to a survey conducted by the dating app happn on the occasion of World Friendship Day on July 30, 45% of single people would be ready to have a romance with someone from their circle of friends.

What if love was right next to you? According to a recent survey by the dating app happn, 45% of single people would be ready to have a romantic relationship with a friend. A little over a third of respondents (39%) believe that feelings must be developed before taking the plunge… at the risk of seeing their sidekick leave. The reverse path can also be done. If the chemistry does not work during a date, more than one in two respondents believe they can remain friends with a former “crush”.

Gone are the days of dating through friends and organized meetings. “66% of singles surveyed prefer to let their friends organize their own meetings and not play Cupid”says the study.

What about the debrief after a first meeting? “In France, 45% of users admit to telling their date in 100% detail“reports the study. “A relationship like Monica and Chandler’s, shows that love and friendship are very close. It’s not hard to imagine that feelings can sometimes mix. That’s why at happn, we believe that if you have a Crush for a friend, you should try your luck when you feel it’s the right time”explains Claire Rénier, Head of Trends at happn in a press release.
