Zelenskyj: Painful blow on Donbass

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The battle for Donbass that is currently underway is one of the hardest fought so far in the war, says Zelensky in his daily speech on Sunday. He then turns directly to the Ukrainian forces trying to stop and repel the Russian invasion army:

— I would especially like to pay tribute to the courage and strength and resilience shown by the soldiers in Donbass.

Developments in Ukraine have also been discussed when German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has visited, among others, US President Joe Biden in the White House. After the talks in Washington DC, the Social Democratic Chancellor gave an interview with the American media company CNN.

Scholz warned of “consequences” if China sends weapons to Russia, intended for the war in Ukraine.

— We are in a position where we make it clear that it (an export) should not take place, and I am relatively certain that we will, we will be successful in our request, but it is something we have to watch closely, said Scholz in the interview that was broadcast on Sunday.

Scholz avoided answering what the consequences might be. He did not respond to direct questions about possible sanctions, neither in the CNN interview nor when asked by German media later on Sunday.
