Zack Snyder still cries during controversial Man of Steel scene

With Man of Steel, Zack Snyder laid the foundation for the DC Extended Universe, which officially ended with Aquaman 2 in 2023. Many fans have since associated Superman with the performance of Henry Cavill, who will no longer return in the role. Snyder recently answered fan questions, one of which was about the same thing emotional and controversial Man of Steel scene rotates. The director has a clear answer.

Zack Snyder still thinks the polarizing Man of Steel scene is extremely touching

A fan Q&A with Snyder has been published on the social film network Letterboxd. One question was whether the director cries every time he watches the one Man of Steel scene with Kevin Costner. Snyder replied:

All the Costner scenes bring tears to my eyes. I get pretty tearful at: ‘You are my son.’ Costner is simply amazing in this film.

In Man of Steel, Costner plays Clark’s adoptive human father, Jonathan Kent. In Snyder’s film he wants to absolutely prevent the world from finding out about his superpowers. In a particularly dramatic scene, a tornado approaches Jonathan, which he prefers to be caught in instead of being saved by Clark.

The moment is still polarizing today and many people make fun of the scene absolutely illogical without their emotional intent appears. For Snyder, the moment remains a touching triumph to this day.

What happens next for Superman after the end of the DCEU?

After Aquaman 2, the DC Universe will be completely rebooted by director James Gunn and producer Peter Safran. It should be in 2025 new Superman film Legacy appear, which Gunn directs himself. Netflix series star David Corenswet (The Politician, Hollywood) was cast as Henry Cavill’s replacement.
