Youtube cuts payments to Russian content producers

After the Ukraine-Russia war, another sanction came from Youtube, which cut the payments to Russian content producers.

Youtube has suspended payments to Russian creators. The real decision maker is, of course, Google. In Google’s wide-ranging decision, it was stated that mobile payment systems and Google Play revenues were also suspended. Google caused these sanctions. Western sanctions on Russia then showed the disruptions in the banking systems.

Reactions to Russia from technology and game companies around the world and sanctions continue to come. Recently, Sony announced that it has stopped sales of Playstation in Russia. The sanctions imposed on Russia by Western banks after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine became Google’s excuse.

Google’s statement includes the following statements:

“Due to disruptions in the payment system, we are suspending the Google Play payment system in Russia. Russian users will not be able to pay for Google apps, purchase games or apps, or buy new apps. However, free apps will be available for download from the Play Store.”

Youtube made the following statement on the subject:

“We stopped running Google and Youtube ads in Russia. Now we are expanding our decision and extending this barrier to all monetization methods. Russian Youtube users will not be able to take advantage of Youtube’s join feature, Youtube Premium and Super Chat and Merchandise features.”
