A man in his 20s from southern Stockholm has been detained on suspicion of having recruited children into crime, reports Expressen.

According to SVT, the man allegedly instructed a child to commit a crime at the same time as the police spied on him. SVT further states that the crime was caught on film.

He was arrested on July 18 in the Stockholm suburb of Rågsved and was detained according to Expressen last week. In addition to involving a minor in crime, a new criminal classification that was introduced into the criminal code on July 1, the man is suspected of abuse in a court case.

The new crime means that anyone who hires, pays, instructs, hands over something or otherwise involves a person under the age of 18 in criminal activity can be sentenced to prison for up to four years.

According to TT’s information, the man is one of the first to be suspected of the crime.
