The start of the Yellow Pieces operation has just been given, in Nice. The opportunity to interview Brigitte Macron, President of the Hospital Foundation, on the current direction of the campaign – focusing on the vulnerability of the youngest.
It is in Nice that the operation “Yellow Pieces” began this Wednesday, January 11th. Alongside Brigitte Macron and Didier Deschamps, the Hospital Foundation appealed to the generosity of the public (donations possible on this site) in order to finance numerous projects to improve the reception of hospitalized children and adolescents.
An inauguration day in Nice
It is in the heart of the Jardin Albert 1er, a few meters from the famous Promenade des Anglais, that the yellow coin piggy bank has made a comeback.
Many activities and events have been planned for the occasion: lyrical singing and urban dance performances, fencing session, pastry stand… Young and old alike were able to meet and have fun around this popular event.
A festive day, marked by the arrival of Didier Deschamps, sponsor of the operation since 2019, and Brigitte Macron, president of the Fondation des Hôpitaux since 2019.
If the atmosphere was resolutely good-natured, the first lady did not forget her objective: to collect the maximum of yellow coins to subsidize numerous projects in French public and private hospitals.
Proof of this is, within the Lenval foundation – visited a little earlier in the morning:
“The foundation told us about its needs, mentioning in particular the need for a sports space for teenagers as well as a space for caregivers. We will therefore do everything we can to offer it to them.“, assures the first lady.
The suffering of adolescents at the heart of the news
Another aim of the foundation: to meet the support needs of vulnerable teenagers. And for good reason: since the Covid-19 pandemic, the mental health of the youngest has become a real subject.
So much so that this year’s campaign has chosen to focus on the vulnerability of the youngest, while developing, in parallel, new mental health programs.
In this context, Brigitte Macron reveals to us that “The Pieces Jaunes operation simply responds to the Foundation’s requests and projects”which itself follows the needs of society.
“Over the past year, topics around adolescent mental health have come to the fore more and more“, concludes the first lady.
