The security police raided several residential addresses and an Islamic association premises in Tyresö on Thursday.
Four men in their 20s were arrested – now all are in custody.
Two brothers are detained on probable cause on suspicion of preparation for terrorist offenses and serious weapons offences. Two other men for serious weapons offences.
All deny wrongdoing.
Worked in schools
According to SVT Nyheter’s information, both brothers have worked as a substitute in school activities in the Stockholm area.
As recently as the day before his arrest last week, the younger brother was working at an elementary school.
– We work every day with hiring, background checks and to secure the school environment. There is no information about warnings from before, says the head of school in the municipality to SVT.
The men started temporary work in the municipality’s school operations in 2021. However, the older brother has not worked in the municipality since 2022.
Convicted of crimes
They have previously been convicted of drug offences, the older brother for several cases. Plainclothes police have previously visited their residence and asked neighbors if they noticed strange smells or sounds from the brothers’ apartment.
According to Säpo, last week’s effort was made to avert a possible terrorist act linked to violent Islamism.
– We have been able to establish that there are links to IS in Somalia, said Fredrik Hallström, operational manager at the Security Police.
The two other men, who are in custody only for serious weapons offences, are linked by the police to a criminal network in Tyresö, according to Expressen’s information.
