Work in January there was a boom in infections

(Finance) – It has been more than 16 thousand contagions from COVID-19 at work, is the highest monthly figure since the end of 2020. The infections at work from Covid-19 reported to Inail as of January 31st they are, in fact, 20,344 more than the monitoring at the end of 2021 (+ 10.6%), of which 16,779 referred to the first month of 2022, 3,169 in December, 170 in November and 38 in October, with the remaining 188 cases distributed between 2020 and other months of 2021. As highlighted by 24th report of the Statistical Actuarial Consultancy of the Institute, the 16,779 infections of occupational origin reported in January represent the highest figure recorded since 2020. The first month of the year in fact ranks, by number of reported infections, after November, March, December, October and April of 2020 and before all months of 2021.

The accident reports on work from Covid-19 received atInail since the beginning of the pandemic they are 211,390, equal to more than one sixth of the total accidents reported since January 2020 and 1.9% of the total number of national infections reported by the Higher Institute of Health on the same date. 2020, with 148,565 cases, collects 70.3% of all infections of professional origin reported to the Institute up to 31 January 2022, with the month of November in first place with 40,701 reports, followed by March with 28,691. 2021, with 46,046 reported infections, on the other hand accounts for 21.8% of the total. The infections in the workplace with fatal outcome detected as of January 31st are 823, equal to a quarter of the total deaths reported since January 2020, with an incidence of 0.6% compared to the total of national deaths from Covid-19 reported from the ISS on the same date.

Compared to 811 fatal cases recorded by the monitoring of December 31, 2021, i deaths there are 12 more, all attributable to the previous months (nine occurred in 2021 and three in 2020). Except for consolidations (late reports) detectable in the next monitoring, in fact, at the moment the month of January 2022 does not present any reports of fatal injuries from contagion. The majority of occupational infections occur in women. There share of infected workers out of the total number of cases reported, in fact, is 68.3%. The female component exceeds the male component in all regions, with the exception of Sicily and Campania, where the incidence of women on the total infections reported to Inail is, respectively, 46.7% and 44.9%.
