Womens football South Africa withdraws its candidacy for the 2027

South Africa announced this Saturday, November 25 that it was withdrawing its candidacy to host the Women’s World Cup in 2027. The deadline for submitting plans from candidates to host the competition was set for 8 December by the International Football Federation. “We felt it was better to present a better prepared bid for 2031, rather than a rushed presentation,” said South African Football Association head Lydia Monyepao. After this withdrawal, three candidacies remain in the running to host the 2027 World Cup: one supported by Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany; another by the United States and Mexico and finally one by Brazil. The choice of the country(ies) selected will be made during the FIFA congress organized next May in Bangkok.
