A woman and a 12-year-old girl have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house in Hanine near the Israeli border, according to rescue workers and Lebanese state media.

Another six people were injured in the attack.

Earlier on Tuesday, Israel’s military announced that two “important” members of the Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah had been killed in other attacks in Lebanon. Hezbollah confirmed that two men were killed by Israeli fire.

Parallel to the war between Israel and Hamas, there has been an almost daily exchange of fire in the troubled border area between Israel and Lebanon, with drone and rocket attacks from both sides of the border.

Since October 7, hundreds of people have been killed in Lebanon, more than 70 of them civilians, according to AFP’s tally. Israel states that eleven Israeli soldiers and eight civilians were killed on their side of the border.
