With just three ingredients you can quickly fight an ant

Tired of ants in your house? With this trap composed of only 3 ingredients, banish them from your kitchen, bedroom or living room in 24 hours!

Ants like to enter your home… simply to come and look for food. For them, your kitchen or your living room is a giant pantry, so why deprive yourself of it?! Once they find something to feed them, they come back and you find it harder and harder to get rid of them. Fortunately, there are many natural solutions to drive them out of your home.

Pest experts from Housewife How-tos in the UK warn that “ants are usually found in buildings where food is served. Once ants find a way into your home, they stay there and create more colonies.” This is why we must intervene quickly. To make an effective trap, you have to take inspiration from what attracts them: sugar, sticky surfaces, waste, wood crumbs… Based on this observation, these pest control professionals have found an easy-to-make trap to eliminate these little beasts. We explain to you.

An effective ant trap

This trap is made from three ingredients: honey or icing sugar and borax. It can take liquid or powder form. Here are the two step by step.

A liquid ant trap

  1. Mix 1/2 cup of honey with a tablespoon of borax.
  2. Add two cups of hot water, continuing to mix well.
  3. Put the preparation in a spray bottle.
  4. Spray a few cotton balls with the mixture and place them on plates.
  5. Install the plates where the ants pass, or where they have taken up residence (window ledges, cracks in the wall, etc.).
  6. Respray the mixture daily on the cotton pads.

A powdered ant trap

It is just as easy to make.

  1. Mix equal parts borax and icing sugar.
  2. Spoon the mixture into cups.
  3. Place cups in strategic locations, ensuring they are not accessible to children or pets
  4. You can also sprinkle some in the gaps, such as between the baseboards, making sure to put it back every other day for 15 days.

The result of these ant traps

Ants will be attracted to the mixture. The pest expert explains that “when ants eat the powder, it dehydrates them within 24 hours. During this time, they carry some of it back to their colony, where it kills other ants in the colony that you don’t see.”
