William Poromaa’s controversial proposal in the World Cup – to stop the Norwegian dominance: “Do as the Russians”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

William Poromaa couldn’t handle the Norwegians today either.
After the new medal miss, the Swede launched a highly controversial proposal.
To put an end to the Norwegian dominance on the men’s side.

The Swedish jump William Poromaa was long in the fight for a medal in 15 km free on Wednesday. It had then become the 22-year-old’s very first WC medal in his career.

Poromaa fifth

Poromaa was the only one who could stand up to the Norwegian dominants on the men’s side but in the end he had to give up this time too. Because just like in the skiathlon, the Swede finished in fifth place and was beaten by four Norwegians ahead of him.

The gold took the sovereign Simen Hegstad Krüger care, his second straight WC gold in Planica, the silver tricked the surprise Harald Östberg Amundsen and took the bronze Hans Christer Holund just one second before four Johannes Hösflot Kläbo. The only thing Poromaa could be content with was that he at least beat a Norwegian Sjur Röthe who came sixth.

“Shut off Norway”

But there was clearly a disappointed Swede after the race.
– It’s a great race. It is clear that it is tough and you want to be on the podium, but unfortunately it is not enough today. Right now I’m not there and in a way it’s nice to feel like I’m doing what I can. I just have to keep doing the work and we’ll get closer. I’m still there and playing with them, says Poromaa to Sportbladet.
– The Norwegians are at the peak of their careers and go really, really fast. Next championship a young and fresh William Poromaa will beat them. But if I beat them today, it’s feat gold level.

In the midst of the disappointment, William Poromaa launches a highly controversial proposal to stop the Norwegian dominance on the men’s side. After the neighboring country secured another WC triple on the podium in Planica.
– You can shut them down like the Russians, then you are world champion, haha. That’s how it is, they go fast. But of course the idea exists, that you are the best if it weren’t for them, he jokingly tells the evening newspaper.
