William Poromaa sprinted to second place

Poromaa’s mood was a far cry from just two days ago in Davos when he snapped his poles in anger after failing the material.

“Triggered by the biathletes”

– That’s how I am. Maybe it triggers me a little too, but I’ve probably gotten the biggest motivation in recent days from social media, says Poromaa, who has had a lot of giggles after his biathlon experience, which he did in SVT’s series “Cold talk“.

Did it trigger you, then, the words from the biathletes?

– Yes, definitely. There has been a lot of writing and opinions. But I see it mostly as humor. It has been a bit difficult to find motivation when things have been tough, so then you have had to find it in other ways, says Poromaa.

Boringest race

The race over 15 km today took place in heavy snowfall and, as expected, no one managed to pull away from the rest of the field.

– I have never driven a more boring race, said Jens Burman.

The podium trio, however, succeeded in the feat of pulling away towards the stadium and it was a raucous showdown in which the Norwegian Erik Valnes was the strongest. The Swiss Cyril Fähndrich took the first podium of his career in third.

Burman vaulted

Jens Burman was alert and fought for the bonus seconds. But when it was to be decided, the accident happened.

– I was knocked over on the last hill, said the Swede who flew over a snow bank in a curve and lost a lot of time.

Burman finished 42nd, just over 20 seconds behind Valnes.

Calle Halfvarsson was the second best Swede in seventh place.

Before the finish up Alpe Cermi’s slalom hill tomorrow, the Norwegian Harald Amundsen has a reassuring lead ahead of his countryman Erik Valnes by a full 1.34 minutes.
