Thats why its not called Denniskorv

Anyone who has ever grilled hot dogs in a park in Sweden has seen the packaging of Scan hot dogs with the blond boy with rosy cheeks on the front.

In the vernacular, the sausage is often called Denniskorv. Probably because the boy on the packaging resembles the cartoon character “Dennis the Menace” that was popular in the 80s and 90s.

But who is the boy on the packaging of Sweden’s best-selling barbecue sausage? And what is his name?

As I said, many people believe that his name is Dennisbecause he looks exactly like Dennis.

There are also rumors that his name would be Per. Something like The Instagram account Matsikset wrote in March 2024:

“The guy on the package is called Per and not Dennis, but you were aware of that, right?”

Is his name Dennis, Per or something completely different?

News24 contacted Scan to find out once and for all what the boy’s name is, and it turns out that his name is neither Dennis nor Per.

“Internally, he is called Pojken or Hot Dog Pojken. His name is therefore neither Per nor Dennis. However, he is similar to the latter.”, writes Madeleineon food forum Scan in an email and continues:

“The boy should show that the product’s target group is younger. After all, we have several products in this series.”

The fact that there are rumors that his name is Per has an explanation. In 1973, Scan launched Pers Pastej and the same boy who was used on the barbecue sausages, but that is not his name.
