Will this innovation really revolutionize skiing The Norwegian star revealed

In skiing, the Norwegian biathlete Sturla Holm Lägreidi has been talking about the new mono and the new attachment point for the binding on skis.

There has been a stir in skiing in recent weeks. Norwegian Sturla Holm Lägreid won the biathlon world championship in a sprint with new types of overalls and bindings.

The attachment point for the new tie is under the handlebar of the mono, while in older models the attachment point is in the bow of the mono.

Lägreid says that he tried a new prototype two years ago. However, according to the Norwegian, a lot had time to change in a couple of years. He got a new tie after the World Cup in Anterselva, which preceded the World Cup.

– It was hard to know if this new one was better or worse. I skied there for a week and a half. I changed to the old one just before the World Cup. The normal system felt bad. I thought that this new one is better after all, Lägreid says.

Lägreid used the new bandage and mono for the first time in the competition on the golden sprint. He describes that skiing has become more relaxed thanks to the new gear.

– I felt better control of the tip of the ski. When there was loose snow, the tip of the ski could hit it. With the new system, I have better control over the tip of the ski. In theory, you get half a second when you don’t have to steer the ski and have a little better control, Lägreid describes.

Lägreid is not yet ready for revolutionary speeches.

– It is difficult to say whether there will be an upheaval. It is perhaps too early to tell. I found a new favorite. As long as I don’t find something better, I’m pulling here, Lägreid said.

In any case, Lägreid has gained a small advantage, since the toughest competitors, such as Johannes Thingnes Bö compete with different brands of skis.

– Of course they are curious. However, it is not possible for them to compete (with new bindings) because they have another brand of skis. If they want to test, they change ski brands, Lägreid describes.

Urheilu’s biathlon expert Ville Kotikumpu also believes that it is still difficult to say about the large-scale benefit. According to the expert, the novelty for Lägreide still works.

Kotikumpu sees one challenge in the new bond on the biathlon side.

– Vertical shooting can have small challenges. There is a possibility that the weight will escape to the toes. That’s a bad thing. However, when the matter is practiced, the center of gravity stays in the middle and the boards fall over, Kotikumpu describes.
