    To nourish your weakened lips, an ingredient from your refrigerator proves to be extremely effective according to an expert. Explanations.

    The skin on our lips is particularly fragile. Faced with external aggressions (sun, wind, cold) and without an apparent shield (sweat glands or hair follicles), it dries out very quickly. This is why it is essential to take care of our lips… and why not by digging into our kitchen? Dr Kiran Mian, dermatologist, reveals which everyday ingredient can effectively hydrate them.

    Clarified butter, an ally for your lips

    Clarified butter, also called ghee in Indian cuisine, is renowned for its moisturizing and nourishing properties.

    Obtained from heated sweet butter, it contains palmitic and stearic fatty acids, which help maintain the suppleness and hydration of the skin, including that of the lips.

    In addition, it contains a large quantity of alpha-linoleic and linoleic acids, which prove to be excellent anti-inflammatories.

    “These lipids reduce transepidermal water loss and add radiance and bounce to the skin”explains Dr Kiran Mian.

    By applying it to the lips, the clarified butter would strengthen the skin’s hydrolipidic barrier, while helping them to remain soft and smooth.

    Ghee also contains antioxidants and vitamins A, E and K, all of which contribute to skin health“, specifies the expert.

    According to the dermatologist, it would therefore be an interesting ingredient, especially for those who favor natural options in cosmetics.

    Other alternatives to repair dry lips

    While clarified butter appears to be an excellent beauty alternative, it may deter some with its oily texture. It is then possible to opt for other treatments, depending on your needs (degree of dryness, fine lines, etc.) such as:

    • a lip stick;
    • a mask;
    • an ointment ;
    • a healing balm.

    Finally, for anyone who wants to increase the volume of their lips without resorting to surgery, certain treatments based on hyaluronic acid and peptides (bioactive compounds found in many skin care products ) can be effective.
