“Will be there for years”

Ravendawn (PC), a new open-world sandbox MMORPG, launched in January 2024 and is now running much more successfully than anyone could have predicted. The developers are pleased with the strong start with the influx of players and are looking confidently into the future.

What is Ravendawn?

  • Ravendawn is an open-world sandbox MMORPG from Tavernlight Games. It’s Free2Play and released for PC on January 16th.
  • The game runs under the radar and is not on any major gaming platform like Steam.
  • But it now seems to be developing successfully thanks to good word-of-mouth propaganda.
  • Ravendawn combines the best of Stardew Valley and your favorite fantasy RPGs

How can you tell that the MMORPG is successful? As the site mmorpg.com reports, the game’s Discord server now has 70,000 users and both game servers are full of players.

    “We are a special game”

This is what the developers say: They are self-confident. They say: It hasn’t even been 2 weeks since the release and we’re still in the early stages of Ravendawn and what the MMORPG has to offer.

People should not panic and enjoy the journey even if it is not yet top efficient. Everyone in the team is a power gamer and can totally understand that as an MMORPG player you want to play with top efficiency.

But the players have to understand: This is a marathon, not a sprint:

“The world of Ravendawn is not going away, unlike most MMORPG launches, we are constantly growing in players. Ravendawn is a special game and we will be here for years/decades.”

This is what lies behind it: Well, let’s see if everything turns out as well as the developers are saying.

There definitely seems to be a craze for the sandbox MMORPG, as can be seen on reddit where people are saying they loved the game.

But there are also initial concerns on reddit (via reddit) as to whether the game would still be as good in the endgame if you couldn’t get your own house. The fear is that, like other sandbox MMORPGs, the endgame could be dominated by a small group of powerful players keeping others down. But the player who voices these concerns also says he currently loves Ravendawn.
