Sky Sports expert Karun Chandhok threw out a wild speculation.

– Bottas back to Mercedes? Chandhok wrote in X.

Valtteri Bottas raced for Mercedes until 2021 as Lewis Hamilton’s teammate until George Russell took Bottas’ place. Bottas now drives for Sauber. He has a contract until the end of the upcoming season.

In fact, Bottas’ place in the team may be under threat. If Hamilton’s move goes through, Carlos Sainz may be left without a driving seat. The Spaniard has been speculated for Sauber.

Chandhok raised two big questions about Hamilton’s move.

– Why Lewis has lost his trust in Mercedes when he said he wants to spend the rest of his life with the Silver Arrows by Stirling Moss in the manner of? Chandhok writes.

– What was the release clause that allowed Lewis to leave just five months into his new contract?

Hamilton and Mercedes announced in August that they have signed a two-year contract extension. The motorsport media are now interpreting that the 2025 Mercedes contract was only an option after all.

Chandhok also wonders the logic in Ferrari’s decision to hire Lewis Hamilton.

– Maybe there is nothing here. Lewis has more money than he can spend. He hasn’t won a race in two years. Maybe Lewis wanted a new challenge. Winning an eighth world championship with Ferrari would leave an incredible legacy, Chandhok reflected.

Another Sky Sports pundit Martin Brundle raised Hamilton’s age to 39. Britti would be 40 years old when he moved to Ferrari.

– Only a few can compete at that age. Current drivers have been racing since they were four, five or six years old. They just burn out, Brundle said on Sky Sports.

According to Brundle, about modern drivers Fernando Alonso is, in addition to Hamilton, a more experienced driver who still has energy and the desire to race a little bit.

– They don’t get hit as hard as us or they don’t get too many hits on the head. I believe they can continue for another three to four years, because they are physically, mentally, nutritionally and fluidly in good shape, Brundle, who drove in Formula One in the 1980s and 1990s, described.
