According to the “Global Vaccine Market Report” published by WHO, global inequalities have emerged due to limited vaccine supply and unequal distribution.

In the report, which mentioned that the vaccine production capacity has increased worldwide, but the vaccine production has become monopolized, it was stated that only 10 vaccine manufacturers, apart from Kovid-19 vaccines, provided 70 percent vaccine dose.

It was shared that the 20 most widely used vaccines were obtained from two main suppliers.

In the report, it was stated that while 83 percent of people are vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV) in high-income countries, this rate is 41 percent in low-income countries, and it was stated that purchasing power is a barrier to vaccine access.

WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, “The right to health includes the right to vaccination.” He said that this report shows that poor and vulnerable populations are deprived of vaccines.

Ghebreyesus stated that WHO is calling for changes in the global vaccine market to prevent diseases, prepare for future crises and save people’s lives. (AA)
