Which starter to choose in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Update

The new success of the year is on the Nintendo side with the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. A new generation of refreshing games for the license, and of which we explain all the starters to you in detail

After winning the hearts of the press with its uninhibited innovation, its immersive open-world and its epic storyline, Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet have landed on our Nintendo Switch consoles. It’s the turn of the players to embark on this new 100% Pokémon adventure, which will take you to discover a whole new region, new teachers and above all, a whole new generation of Pokémon. If you too have fallen for Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Purple and want to know which starter to choose, we are giving you a little help just below.

Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet offer you as usual three Pokémon Starters, strictly identical between the two versions. These are also Chochodile, Poussacha and Coiffeton. We present them to you in a little more detail just below, but first, know that theoretically, these three Pokémon are as powerful as each other. Only, the variety of enemies that you will encounter at the start of the game, as well as the different evolutions of your Pokémon Starters directly influence the difficulty of your first hours of play. Moreover, it is important to choose a Starter that you like beyond of his performance. That being said, we are interested here in the best Pokémon of the three.

  • Chocolate: fire-type pokemon
  • Dressing: water-type pokemon

Unsurprisingly, if you’re looking for the best early game performance, Chochodile will be your first choice. Besides his big smile and huge appetite, he has the most effective (fire) type in the early game, both offensively and defensively. It will also be very effective in your Arena fights, especially against Grusha who is at the Mont Nappé Arena, and against Colza who happens to be the Arena Champion of Cuencia. Its final evolution, which for the moment still has no name, happens to be a dual-type Pokémon, Fire and Ghost.

Hairdresser is a very solid option for your early game. It’s very effective against some of the more common early-game Pokemon, despite its type being quite common in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple. Its evolution, still undiscovered for the moment, has the double type Water and Combatmaking it a very good choice against all normal Pokémon.

Pushed is the only starter to have five weaknesses, a pretty tough total for your early game. It’s excellent against Water-type Pokemon, but its benefits are still limited. On the other hand, its evolutions remain by far the most pleasing to the eye. It is true that the look of our Pokémon in final evolution is important, and on this point, Poussacha wins the battle hands down. Its evolution will be a dual-type Pokémon as well, type Plant and Dark. Although we don’t know his name yet, we already have the first images (just above), and Poussacha can defend himself from growing both in size and in style.

History to make a small update on the evolutions of the starters on the day of the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, no trainer has yet discovered the exact name of each of the final or intermediate evolutions of our companions. However, we know their type, which we summarize for you just below:

  • Chocolate: fire type, final evolution of fire and ghost type
  • Dressing: water type, water type final evolution and combat
  • Poussacha: plant-type, final evolution of plant-type and dark.
