Just four months after its sci-fi predecessor starts today April 19, 2024 with Rebel Moon – Part 2: The Scar Maker the sequel to Rebel Moon – Part 1: Child of Fire. Anyone who believes that peace will then return to Zack Snyder’s war-torn universe is mistaken, as the director recently spoke about his future plans for the series.
Zack Snyder isn’t just planning Rebel Moon 3 on Netflix: the sci-fi saga could even include twice as many films
In the second sci-fi part of Rebel Moon, Kora (Sofia Boutella), the titular scar maker, defends her home with her battle-trained ally: the moon Veldt. But their opponents from the all-powerful mother world want to end this rebellion once and for all. Netflix users can now find out how this turns out for everyone involved in the sequel. Filmmaker Zack Snyder, on the other hand, has already moved on in his head – namely with Part 3 and other films, as he revealed to RadioTimes:
I guess four [Filme von Rebel Moon] would make sense. Four or six filmsdepending on whether we do it every time [wie bei Teil 1 und 2] start turning one and then come out on two. […] We definitely already have the story we want to tell and all the preparatory work has been done. We have a treatment [also einen Handlungsablauf] written and now we have to see what happens next.

Will Kora return in Rebel Moon 3?
The prerequisite for Rebel Moon 3 or the dreamed-up other Rebel Moon films is of course the support of the fans and that Netflix is willing to order one or more sequels. For this to happen, enough viewers have to tune in. Part 3 does not currently have the green light. Even if the sequel is commissioned immediately after Part 2, given the large production effort, it would probably last at least until 2026 It will take a while until we find out how the sci-fi adventure continues. Zack Snyder has so far remained tight-lipped about specific plot details.
Even though the reviews for Part 1 were poor (21 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and Rebel Moon: Child of Fire was very poorly received by audiences, the view numbers on Netflix were impressive (34 million views in the first week according to Collider). Part 2 now has to prove whether it can build on this or even surpass its predecessor.
In the background, the Rebel Moon world is already growing diligently: Zack Snyder’s franchise now includes a prequel comic *, a novel version *, a planned video game and an announced harder director’s cut.
