Wednesday star Jenna Ortega was supposed to be back for You season 4 – but there was a Netflix problem

Wednesday star Jenna Ortega was supposed to be back for

The Netflix series You – You will love me has some skeletons in the closet. This is due to the nature of the genre: main character Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is a lovesick stalker/serial killer. He usually kills to protect other people or to cover his tracks. In the course of the 4 seasons, however, he left figures keep getting away.

Perhaps the most important of this series: played by Wednesday star Jenna Ortega Ellie Alves. Ever since her introduction and development in Season 2, fans have been waiting for Ellie’s return. And that’s what should happen in season 4.

Wait, who exactly was Jenna Ortega’s character in You again?

Netflix

Jenna Ortega as Ellie

Short remembering: Ellie Alves was Joe’s neighbor in Los Angeles. The smart, film-obsessed teenager became friends with Joe. He developed a protective instinct. Also, Joe began an affair with Ellie’s sister Delilah (Carmela Zumbado) – a journalist who in turn follows on the heels of the Comedians Henderson (Chris D’Elia) stapled by whom she considered teenage girl raped became. Ellie also ends up in the comedian’s dangerous orbit. Which is why Joe, more or less accidentally, kills him.

Ellie then gets caught between the fronts of the murderous psycho warfare by Joe and Love (Victoria Pedretti). The latter kills Ellie’s sister and frames her for Henderson’s murder. At the end of the season knows Ellie Joe’s true identity and essence. However, Joe gives her money to start a new life with. Since then, Ellie has been out there somewhere. And could thaw again at any time.

Why Jenna Ortega Can’t Be in You Season 4

Jenna Ortega’s return to the You cosmos was always in the air. Ortega himself expressed interest in another appearance. In season 4 it should finally happen. However, something came up: another Netflix series. You showrunner Sera Gamble described these plans and the scheduling problems to IndieWire:

We were going to bring Ellie back and we were like, ‘Oh Jenna is doing a certain series.’

This series is of course Wednesday, Jenna Ortega’s biggest hit to date, which is likely to bring her more roles (not to mention Wednesday season 2). Still, Gamble wants to tie Ellie into the You plot at some point:We have ideas for EllieIf you [Ortegas] schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Should Ellie actually return to the You world at some point, Joe should wrap up warm. Because there is probably no person who can be more dangerous to him.
