Webuild in consortium contract worth 934 million for the Trento

(Tiper Stock Exchange) – Webuildbig Italian construction and engineering, ha obtained (in consortium) from Rete Ferroviaria Italiana the award of the Trento railway bypass (Lot 3A) for 934 million euros of total value. The consortium is led by Webuild (55% of the total share) and will design and build approximately 13km of new railway line, almost all underground, as part of the quadrupling of the Fortezza-Verona high-speed line in continuation of the Brenner Base Tunnel.

For the execution of the works, it is estimated they will be around 1,000 jobs created, direct and from third parties, with an important induced for the entire supply chain. Lot 3A is included in the PNRR among the strategic projects for enhancing sustainable mobility in Italy.

55% of the works will be carried out by the Webuild group (51% Webuild and 4% Seli), with Ghella (35%) and Collini (10%).

The project involves the construction of a natural tunnel, the Trento Tunnel (approximately 10.6km in length), and two short surface sections alongside the existing line. They will be used to excavate the Trento Tunnel 4 mechanical moles (TBM), which will face excavation 2 from the south, heading north, and 2 from the north, heading south. The technology used in this way will make it possible to advance the excavations by about 15-20 meters a day, with benefits for the overall construction times of the work.
