We didn’t expect this from online banking: it’s a surprise for its customers.

Revolut has announced the launch of eSIM in France, allowing all its customers to access mobile internet when traveling abroad, without experiencing interruptions or unexpected roaming charges. According to a press release from the digital bank, Revolut customers in France, with phones compatible with eSIM technology, can since Monday install this service on their mobile phone, regardless of the type of plan they have – Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal or Ultra. Once installed, eSIM allows users to connect to the internet from their phone wherever they travel, without requiring a physical SIM card and without using the mobile data included in their mobile phone plan.

eSIMs are compatible with most Apple and Android 4G/5G smartphones and are easy to install, without the need to download additional apps or use a physical SIM card. “If a Revolut customer lands in a country and doesn’t have access to data, they can still access the Revolut app and use all products and features, including the ability to add more mobile data. With the eSIM installed via the Revolut app, all Revolut users, regardless of their plan, will have access to mobile data. Ultra customers will be able to use, as a benefit included in their plan, 3 GB of mobile data to use globally, with continuous renewal each month,” the statement said.

The new product is available to all users with the latest version of the Revolut app, version 10.14, and prices per location for 1 GB start from 1 euro and the offer includes more than 100 countries. Multiple data plans will be available, ranging from 1 GB to 20 GB, and customers will also have the option to choose between regional or global data plans to cover multiple countries with a single plan, according to the release.
