Firewood is increasingly disappearing from public barbecue areas. In Kronoberg, among other places, there have been several reports of firewood theft lately.
– There has been theft of firewood before, but not on such a large scale, says Staffan Käll, municipal police in Älmhult.
Staffan Käll cannot answer what the increase in wood theft is due to, but he believes that the reason is a shortage of wood and increased electricity prices.
– People think this is an easy way to get firewood, but it is a crime, he says.
