The corvette HTMS Sukhothai from the Thai Navy has been wrecked while on patrol in the Gulf of Thailand off the country’s east coast. 75 sailors have been rescued but around 30 are still missing.

The ship was surprised by rough seas and strong tidal currents and began to take on water. Pictures taken from alerted rescue ships show the corvette with a strong list. Shortly thereafter, she went to the bottom.

According to the Navy, the ship’s operating system stopped working, causing the crew to lose control and no longer be able to maneuver.
