Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader first look

In our first look at Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, we take a look at the general dynamics of the production in which we played the Alpha version.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, the new role-playing game of Owlcat Games, which introduced itself to us with its famous Pathfinder games, does not have an official release date yet, but we can say that it is promising for the lovers of the universe with its closed alpha version. We are here with a new review as far as the alpha version offers us. Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader first look In our content, we will look at what awaits us in the production where we play the Alpha version.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader first look / Alpha

Warhammer is a very rich universe that is both huge and quite complex. Although there are many games on the market about this universe, the number of games that can use their full potential does not exceed five fingers of a hand. That’s why I was pretty excited when I saw that a studio that was successful in role-playing like Owlcat would come up with a job related to this universe. As far as I’ve played Alpha, I can say that my excitement was not in vain.

First of all, I would like to say that the atmosphere of Warhammer 40,000 has been reflected quite successfully. While doing this, Owlcat tried to use the depth of the universe to the fullest and was largely successful. I cannot ignore that the biggest factor supporting this created world is the wonderful music that the game has. We play with wonderful music that will make you feel the world of Warhammer and adapt you directly to your location. This greatly expands and strengthens the role-playing experience of the game.

Rogue Trader, which significantly increases the motivation of the player with the intro music it offers, is also very detailed in dialogue. The game, which has the kind of structure that players who dominate the Warhammer universe will fall in love with, reveals many familiar elements and unity. Apart from that, it is a job where those who do not know the universe will learn a lot while playing and take the first step, of course, if you scrutinize it… Although I cannot say anything in detail about the presentation and the flowchart since it starts us directly from the second part of the story in the Alpha version, it will reveal the depth of the dialogue system and the characters. I can say that I really like your work.

However, I would like to say that this presentation to the player is incomplete and after a while it can seriously bore the player. The game prefers not to support the vast majority of the dialogues it offers with any voiceover, sound effects, and sometimes even music. We all know that we rarely see these support elements perfectly in such productions, but at least with the supported sound effects to be added to the conversations, I think it would be much easier for the game to adapt the player. Of course, it is useful to remember that the game is still in a closed alpha version and many innovations will come in the future.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader preview

Although I have said that it reflects the Warhammer 40,000 universe beautifully as an atmosphere, I say do not expect an interactive or living world. It offers a slightly shallower and more restrictive structure than its counterparts. It also has very serious animation errors and some technical problems, especially during the battle system. These problems are not very noticeable as they are in the alpha version for now, but if they continue when it comes out, it will cause serious problems.

Rogue Trader is turn-based; presents itself with a tactically and strategically rich structure. The abilities offered by each of our characters and the playing style they promise are quite different. This part, which represents one of the most critical elements in a party-based role-playing game, has been reflected in the game quite successfully. The gameplay still has amazing hit styles / animations, even though it’s still shouting “I’m still improving”. Especially if you have a character that does magic, you are more than satisfied while managing that character. This kind of covers up the soullessness during the action.

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader Alpha review

Last word

Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has some major issues in terms of gameplay and presentation, although it’s not too late for any of these negative aspects. We will see together how the game will progress and what kind of final experience we will encounter in the future. I know that Owlcat can explore the potential in Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader with the full version, I have positive thoughts about this game. We hope that with the final release, we will get the Warhammer role-playing experience we all desire.
