Iranian religious leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made harsh statements about the Israeli administration, which continues its attacks on the Gaza Strip. Making a statement on his social media account, Khamenei said, “The massacre in Gaza during the month of Ramadan this year saddened Muslims around the world. “Curse the usurper Zionist regime, which did not stop the massacres of women, children and defenseless people during Ramadan, and even increased the murders even more,” he said. Stating that Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria is considered an attack on Iranian territory, Khamenei said, “This malicious regime made a wrong move. “He must be punished and he will be punished,” he said.
“THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE”
Emphasizing that everyone should feel responsible for Gaza, Khamenei said, “It is not a matter to be underestimated that the Palestine issue has become the most important issue of London, Paris and Washington. This is something that has never been seen before. “It is clear that a new change is taking place in the Islamic world,” he said.
“THEY ARE HELPING THEIR OWN DESTRUCTION”
Criticizing the aid provided to Israel, Khamenei said, “It is sad that some Muslim governments are aiding the Zionist regime in the midst of the conflict in Palestine. When Zionists gain a foothold in a country, they suck the blood of that country for their own interests. “Those who aid the Zionist regime are aiding their own destruction,” he said.
Calling on Muslim countries, Khamenei said, “Muslim governments should cut off their economic and political relations with the Zionist regime, at least temporarily. Relations should be severed and no one should help them as long as they commit these crimes. It is not only our expectation that Muslim countries will cut off their relations with the Zionist regime. Muslim nations are waiting for this. “If Muslim countries hold a referendum, everyone will undoubtedly vote for their governments to cut ties,” he said.
STATEMENT FROM ISRAEL: ‘ANY ATTACK…’
Khamenei also used similar statements towards Israel in the Eid prayer sermon he delivered at the Great Musalla Mosque in the capital Tehran. The Israeli administration reacted to Khamenei’s statements. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said in his statement that any attack on Israel will be met with a strong defense, and then a strong response will be given to the attack on Iranian territory. Gallant said, “In this war, we are being attacked on more than one front, from different directions. “Any enemy who tries to attack us will first be met with a strong defense,” he said.
Stating that any attack will be responded to very quickly, regardless of where it occurs throughout the Middle East, Gallant said: “Israel’s reaction will be very effective, very strong. “One of the things we have excelled at for years is that the enemy never knows what surprises we are preparing for him,” he said.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in his statement: “If Iran attacks from its own territory, Israel will respond and attack Iran.”
