Wallaceburg house fire sends one to hospital

A Wallaceburg house fire sent one person to hospital early Friday, Chatham-Kent fire officials say.

Quick action by firefighters helped contain the fire to the first floor, officials said in a release.

Crews from Station 2 Chatham, Station 3 Wallaceburg and Station 5 Tupperville were called to a residential fire at 27957 St. Clair Rd. at 3:20 am, it said.

“When crews arrived, they reported flames coming from first-floor windows,” the release said. “Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire on the first floor. Work was then done by crews to make sure the fire did not extend into second storey or attic.”

Two pumper trucks and ladder, tanker and rescue trucks responded. Chatham-Kent EMS and police were also on scene assisting fire crews.

The person who was taken to hospital has since been released, fire officials said.
