The province, municipality, QBuzz and FC Utrecht did a test today by running the tram once. The tram to the Utrecht Science Park does not normally run on weekends due to the high costs and the low number of travelers, making the stadium difficult to reach on match days.
The costs to run the tram are 15,000 euros and are paid by the municipality and province. The largest cost item is service and safety, for which Qbuzz and FC Utrecht supply staff. FC Utrecht is also responsible for managing the crowds outside the stadium.
The results of the pilot will be announced mid-year. The tram may run structurally on match days from the 2024-2025 season.
