The politicians were shocked by that criticism, and in July 2021 the council adopted an amendment proposal that did more justice to the wishes of the neighborhood. All parties, including D66, PvdA and GroenLinks voted in favor of this amendment. It was decided that two variants would be developed for the area, the bicycle street and the Knip. The amendment states: “The two variants (…) to be further elaborated, including in any case attention to the feasibility of a bicycle street on the Ledig Erf, the possibilities for a more liveable Balijelaan and the effects of possible extra traffic on, among other things, ‘ t Goylaan and the Waalstraat.”
