(Finance) – Requests for unemployment benefits in the USA. In the week ending June 22, claims totaled 233,000, down 6,000 from 239,000 the previous week (revised from a preliminary estimate of 238,000) and below the 236,000 analysts had estimated.
There average of the last four weeks – according to data from the U.S. Department of Labor – settled at 236,000 units, up 3,000 units from the previous week’s figure. The four-week average is considered a more accurate indicator of the health of the labor market, as it smooths out the strong swings observed weekly.
Finally, in the week of June 15, the ongoing subsidy requests they stood at 1,839,000, up by 18,000 thousand units compared to the 1,821,000 units of the previous week (data revised from a preliminary of 1,828,000 thousand). Analysts had expected a value of 1,820,000.
