(Finance) – The American construction market moves at two speeds in August.
According to Department of Commerce American i new construction sites started recorded a decrease of 11.3%, reaching 1.283 million units, after the 2% increase recorded in July (figure revised from +3.9%). Analysts’ expectations had predicted a higher number of open construction sites at 1,440 million.
THE building permits issued by the competent authorities recorded, in the same period, an increase of 6.9% to 1.543 million units, after the +0.1% recorded the previous month. Analysts’ expectations were for a more limited recovery of permits, i.e. up to 1,440 million.
