Unexpected rise in the housing market in February

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Housing prices turned upwards in many parts of the country in February, new figures show. At the same time, the overall decline in the housing market may be greater than what appears in the statistics. In the country as a whole, the average price of condominiums increased by 1 percent in February, while the price of villas was unchanged compared to the previous month, according to new figures from Swedish Real Estate Statistics.

In central Stockholm, it is the second month in a row that the prices of condominiums have risen. But now several other regions are also following suit. In fact, prices are not falling in any of the three metropolitan regions, neither for villas nor condominiums.

– Right now it looks like a trend break and if we look historically, it usually looks exactly like this. That there has been a long downward slope in prices – and then it levels off, says Hans Flink, business development manager at Swedish Broker Statistics, to TV4 Nyheterna.
