The decision was taken during Unesco’s general meeting on Thursday with the reason that threats and hatred against scientists are increasing around the world, while science-based decision-making is becoming increasingly important.
“It requires that there is a safe and free environment to work in,” says Ulrika Björkstén, advisor to Sweden’s Unesco delegation to Vetenskapsradion.
