Since 1 July 2023, there is a new penal provision that makes it a criminal offense to involve children under the age of 18 in criminal activities.
This prosecution is one of the first in Västerbotten with the classification involving minors in crime.
It was at the end of October that the man is suspected of getting a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old to rob a person of their phone and bank card.
Took out 15,000
Using the bank card, the teenagers then withdrew SEK 15,000 from the victim’s account. After that, the teenagers must have handed over the loot to the man. The police assess the state of the investigation as good.
– In addition to the numerous interrogations, we have also sought information through, among other things, a review of film, technical evidence and electronic communication between people involved in the investigation, says police investigator Karolina Kellgren.
Too young to prosecute
In addition to the man, the 15-year-old is also charged with robbery. The 14-year-old is too young to be prosecuted but, according to the police, has been investigated under the law with the special provision on young offenders.
