Ukraine confirms attack on railway bridge in Russia Russian

Since the beginning of the war of aggression, the Russian railway network has repeatedly been the target of various sabotage attacks.

Intelligence Service of Ukraine (GUR) has confirmedthat the support pillar of the railway bridge over the Chapajevsky river was blown up today at six o’clock in the morning.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia used the bridge to transport military equipment from the factory in Chapayevsk.

– Due to the damage, the railway bridge will be out of use for a long time, the intelligence service writes in its announcement.

The Russian railway company said earlier on Monday that train traffic in the Samara region had to be suspended due to “illegal harassment”.

Russia’s state-owned news agency Tass later reported that the bridge was damaged by the explosion.

The city of Chapajevsky was known especially during the Soviet era for its numerous secret weapons factories.

As a result of the production of chemical weapons, Chapayevsk is one of the most polluted cities in Russia. Due to the large amount of toxins that ended up in the environment, Chapayevsk is also known in Russia “as a city of death”.
