Ukraine says it has captured two North Korean soldiers in the Russian border region of Kursk. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announces this on X.
Zelensky writes that the two soldiers are injured and have been transported to Kiev “where they are now communicating with the security services of Ukraine” and are receiving the necessary care.
Furthermore, the president writes that this has not been an easy task and claims that Russian forces and the North Korean military “usually execute their wounded to erase all evidence of North Korea’s involvement in the war against Ukraine.”
According to previous estimates, North Korea has sent over 10,000 troops to support Russia’s offensive war.

The police have received an alarm that a bus has overturned on the E4 near Jönåker in Nyköping municipality.
– We received an alarm that a bus had overturned for an unknown reason and was lying on its side. There must have been 14 people on the bus. The majority have received injuries, says the police spokesperson.
Four people are said to be seriously injured, according to information to Aftonbladet.
Ambulance, rescue service and police have been called to the scene. Even the ambulance helicopter was on its way to the accident, according to reports.

The whole of the UK has had some really good winter weather in recent weeks. Among other things, Shap in the west of England had eleven degrees below zero during the night and five degrees cold was measured at Heathrow airport.
The country’s health authority has issued a warning about the cold, which could mean an increase in the number of deaths, especially among the elderly.

A police manhunt was underway after a robbery at a pharmacy in Partille during the morning.
The police were alerted at 10.30 about a robbery in progress at a pharmacy on Vallhamra Torg.
– We are on site quickly. Two masked perpetrators apparently leave the scene on electric scooters. We have arrested one of them, a man in his 40s. But the hunt is on for the other, says Jens Andersson, press spokesperson at the police.
It is unclear whether the perpetrators were armed or whether they came across some loot.
According to the police, no one was physically harmed in connection with the crime.
Only a short time later, a dog patrol caught the second perpetrator on a nearby residential street.
The 45-year-old man was arrested on the spot.

Police and ambulance are on site at the Royal Palace in central Stockholm due to a workplace accident.
– There is a person, a soldier, who has slipped and injured himself, says Mats Eriksson, press spokesperson for the police in the Stockholm region.
The person will be taken to hospital and the condition of the injury is unclear. The man was awake and talkative.
