Ridgetown woman accused of attacking former partner with knife

Two men have been charged in connection to separate allegations of assaulting a woman on Tuesday.

Two men have been charged after separate domestic assault allegations.

Chatham-Kent police responded early Tuesday afternoon to a third-party complaint about a domestic disturbance on Taylor Avenue in Chatham.

Police arrived and spoke to a 33-year-old Chatham-Kent man who refused to leave the home. The man was already wanted on two outstanding warrants and, while officers waited for a warrant to enter the home, he finally surrendered and was arrested, police said.

An argument between the accused and a woman had escalated when he allegedly took her phone by force, leaving an abrasion on her chest, police said.

The accused also allegedly assaulted the woman on two other occasions, police added.

He was arrested and charged with assault and two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and held for a bail hearing, police said.

Shortly after 10 pm Tuesday, police responded to a domestic dispute on George Street in Ridgetown.

Police said an argument between a man and woman became physical when the man allegedly assaulted the woman.

A 49-year-old Ridgetown man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, police said. He was later released with conditions and a Sept. 6 short date.

A 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman is in trouble with the law for allegedly throwing a beverage at another woman.

Chatham-Kent police were investigating another matter just before 6 pm Tuesday when a disturbance involving the accused was witnessed on Fourth Street in Chatham.

Police said an argument escalated to where the alleged beverage-throwing incident took place, resulting in the accused being charged with assault.

She was arrested and held for bail, police said.

Two males charged with mischief

Two males are facing charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to allegations of an attempted ATV theft on Countryview Line in Chatham Township just before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said the tires of the ATV were punctured after a failed attempt to steal the vehicle.

The two accused – a 15-year-old Chatham youth and 19-year-old Chatham man – were found a short distance away and arrested, police said.

The youth is charged with theft, mischief and breach of probation while the man is charged with theft and mischief, police said.

Bother were later released with conditions and future court dates.
