“I strongly condemn the vileness committed against the Holy Koran in Sweden. This heinous act is an insult to democracy and freedom and is a crime against humanity. The Swedish government should review the laws, decisions and practices behind which it (the act) hides,” writes Kilic, adding that he calls on the Swedish government to “reason” and consider the matter.
Even UN chief António Guterres’ spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric expresses himself in one statement critical of the Koran action.
“Disrespect for holy books and places of prayer is unacceptable,” Dujarric stated on Thursday, stressing the need for “mutual respect”.
