Trainers scoff at the limit for a rare item – “That’s stupid”

In Pokémon GO, trainers run a lot of routes to collect rare items: the Zygarde cells. But now a coach reached a limit, which surprised some players.

What is special about the item? You can currently only get the Zygarde cells if you use the route feature in Pokémon GO. Here you run routes submitted by other players and are rewarded for it – if you’re lucky, even with rare Zygarde cells.

You need this to change the forms of the monster Zygarde from the special research “From A to Zygarde” – and not too short. You need a full 50 cells for the 50% form, another 200 are needed for the optimal form.

Since Zygarde Cells are rarely obtained, this can take quite a long time. Many trainers emphasize that to date they only have a fraction of the necessary cells. But players are slowly emerging who have now completed the Zygarde development.

A trainer in the subreddit “TheSilphRoad” also spoke up because he had the necessary cells together. But he noticed something: There is apparently a limit to how many cells you can have in total.

Trainer reports: At 250 cells it’s over

The user “bashford427” reported in his post that you can apparently hold a maximum of 250 cells in the item bag. Because he actually planned to collect 300 so that he could later afford several forms at the same time when more Zygarde specimens can be caught at some point.

But when he got to 248 and collected 3 more cells, the counter stopped at 250. The next day, no further cells found were collected.

So the limit for simultaneous cells is apparently 250. That’s why the trainer advised: “Don’t make the same mistake as me and waste a day’s worth of cells by going over them.” Only when he spent 50 cells to get a 50% -form, he was able to collect more cells.

This is how coaches react: The user “bashford247” himself is not a fan of the limit. Discussing whether more Zygarde will be available at some point, he writes: “I’m sure at some point [kommt ein weiteres Zyngarde], which is why I want to collect the cells right now while I’m used to it. But not letting one save more than 250 is stupid.”

And other trainers also agree with a wink – precisely because the cells are so extremely rare:

  • “I won’t make the mistake when I get to 250, which should be around February 2026 at the rate I’m getting them,” writes one user (via reddit).
  • “Damn, I’m only 40, but that’s good to know” (via reddit).
  • “It looks like December 2030 to me, so you’re way ahead of some of us,” writes another (via reddit).
  • “You’re traveling faster than me, I have one cell so far,” says another (via reddit).
  • Basically, the Zygarde feature seems to be quite long-term, because getting the cells in quantity is a difficult task. In addition, trainers currently assume that you can get a maximum of 3 a day anyway, although this is not guaranteed for every route.
