At 18.40 the police received an alert about a suspicious bag on a train that left Uppsala in the direction of Sala. When the train arrived in Sala, the police chose to examine the bag.
– At the moment we do not know what kind of bag it is or what is in it, so we have chosen to be safe before the unsafe, said police spokesperson Pelle Vamstad to TV4 Nyheterna earlier in the evening.
About 350 passengers on the train were forced to evacuate while police investigated the bag.
Later, the police announced that the owner of the bag had been found and that the police operation had been called off.
SJ states that trains on the route between Dalarna and Stockholm may be diverted due to the operation, which means delays in train traffic.
