Train derailed in Avesta Krylbo – halt in train traffic

Traffic on the route has been stopped and there is no forecast for when it can resume.

VR’s communications manager Christer Ekelund says that it was train 18106 from Örebro to Avesta Krylbo that derailed near the station, on its way onto the track. None of the people are said to have been injured.

In an email to SVT, he states that the people have not yet been evacuated:

“We are waiting for personnel who can ensure evacuation. No forecast for when that might happen.”

According to the Swedish Transport Administration, the derailment must have taken place at low speed.

Stockholm traffic is affected

The derailment affects, among other things, trains on the Stockholm–Falun and Stockholm–Mora routes.

Travelers are advised to contact their train companies for information on replacement services.

We will update the article as soon as more information becomes available. The Swedish Transport Administration has previously stated that the people left the train themselves.
