Tourist submarine lost in the Atlantic – was supposed to visit the Titanic

A submarine that takes tourists to the wreck of the Titanic has gone missing.
Now the Coast Guard has added an effort to look for possible passengers – and to investigate what has happened. Five people are said to have been on board the boat, according to the report
The Guardian.

“Titanic Expedition – Investigate the Titanic”. This is how the 8-day trip to the Titanic’s wreck at a depth of approximately 3,800 meters off the coast of Newfoundland in Canada is marketed.

The route can be booked by a maximum of six people per week and costs over SEK 2.5 million. Now the ship has disappeared, reports BBC.

On Monday, the Boston Coast Guard added a search and rescue effort. According to a spokesperson for the Boston Coast Guard, there were five people on board, writes The Guardian.

Even the company “OceanGate Expeditions”, which runs the underwater tour, confirms in a statement that their underwater boat has disappeared. “Our entire focus is on the crew members of the submarine and their families,” the statement said, according to the BBC.

Since the wreck was found in 1985, the Titanic has been well explored and has occasionally been visited by tourists using small submarines like this one.
