Torgny Mogren points out who will win the overall World Cup – and actually guesses Ebba Andersson: “She will be sharp”

This weekend it’s time for the World Cup again.
Many will settle for the throne in cross-country skiing.
But the legendary Torgny Mogren has his favorite ready – and it’s not Ebba Andersson.

The Swedish skiing premiere is over and Ebba Andersson immediately showed his capacity by winning the 10 km classic in Gällivare. In 10 km free it was instead a surprising victory Moa Ilarwhich outshone both Frida Karlsson and Andersson.

Kläbo superior

This weekend is the time for the long-awaited premiere of the World Cup and this season will be extremely exciting. With no championships on the schedule this winter, all cross-country skiers will be intently focused on winning the overall World Cup and stepping up to the throne as the world’s best skier.

Now the ski experts have had their say and on the men’s side they are in complete agreement as to who will take home the overall victory. Radio sport’s experts Torgny Mogren and Hanna Falk as well as the Norwegian expert Torgeir Björn say in unison:
“Kläbo, Kläbo, Kläbo!”.

Opting out Ebba

But on the women’s side, it’s all the more wide open. Ebba Andersson became a great WC queen last season and should thus be the favorite for the overall victory, but all three actually choose the 26-year-old.

Hanna Falk chooses neither a Swede nor a Norwegian.
– I think (Jessie) Diggins will be dangerous. She maintains a high level in both distance and sprint, and if she runs everything, she can probably beat both Ebba and Frida, she tells Radiosporten.

While Norwegian Torgeir Björn chooses a Swedish winner.
– I think Ebba Andersson is the best at distance this winter, but Frida Karlsson is better at sprinting and that means I actually keep Frida barely ahead, he says to the radio channel.

Swedish skiing legend Torgny Mogren opts out of both Karlsson and Andersson for a completely different Swede.
– I thought Jonna Sundling would be short last year. But this year I think she will be very sharp, he admits in the interview.
