Topi Raitanen who is chasing Jukka Keskisalo SE tells what

broadcasts Paavo Nurmi’s track and field competitions on Tuesday at Areena at 4:35 p.m., on TV2 at 6:00 p.m. and on radio Puhee at 4:30 p.m.

Reigning European 3,000m steeplechase champion Top Raitanen is on the schedule for the World Championships in Budapest in August, as the season has gotten off to a better start in light of the results than last season, which culminated in the European Championship gold.

Raitanen opened his season in May in Germany by running 1,500 meters with his record of 3:38.47. On his main trip, he competed for the first time in Norway on June 3 (8:24,77) and again in the Paris Diamond League on Friday (8:22,00).

In the previous season, Raitanen clocked 8:38.75 and 8:24.62 in his first two steeplechase races of the season. In previous seasons, Raitanen has been able to improve his time as the season progresses.

– As such, we are on better terms, but last season ended nicely with the championship party, Raitanen told Urheilu.

However, Raitanen is a little disappointed with the first races of the season.

– Even though I have achieved the best results and times in many trainings, it has not yet been reflected in the games.

The ending is still not coming off

Friday’s Diamond League match against Ethiopia Lamecha Girma crushed Qatar Saif Saaeed Shaheen 19 years old ME (7:53,63) with a difference of one and a half seconds (7:52,11).

Raitanen started the race well, but couldn’t pull himself out of the final stretch, which has been considered a man’s strength, and was 13th in the race. Four European runners finished ahead of the Finn: Spain Daniel Arce, Victor Ruiz and Fernando Carro and France Djilali Bedrani.

The steeplechase master believes that the kiri who struggled in the early season will be found as the season progresses by running tough obstacle races.

– When the bell is rung and the feet don’t change the rhythm, it’s really annoying. I’ve usually been able to drill seconds and positions with the final key. Muscular endurance can be refined with obstacle races.

– That’s definitely what it depends on, it’s just not as fresh as it should be. That’s why genuineness has also become more cautious in the last rounds.

Finnish record in binoculars?

The main goal of Raitanen’s season is to run with good results all summer. It can be concluded from the answers that Jukka Keskisalon Breaking the Finnish record is interesting.

According to the runner, 8.22 in Paris is a good result, but not yet excellent.

– It is there as 8.10 knows. Hopefully we’ll get close, or even break it as the season progresses. Through good starts, the result of an excellent race improves. If the basic level rotates on the worse side of 8.20, in successful performances it must be well below 8.20 and as close as possible to 8.10.

The Finnish record for the 3,000-meter hurdles is Keskisalo’s run of 8:10.67 from 2009. Raitanen’s best record is 8:16.57, run in 2020.

From the lights of Paris to the summer evenings of Turku

Raitanen will compete next on Tuesday, June 13, at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku. Recovery time is on the cards after the Diamond League competition held late on Friday.

– After the race, I didn’t get much sleep. The start was around 23:30 Finnish time. It took until two or three before I could settle down in bed. At seven, get on the bus and head to the airport. It wasn’t an optimal preparation for Turku, but I want hard competitions, and it just belongs to this choice of sport.

On Tuesday, you will see e.g. of Kenya Lawrence Kemboiwhose record is 8.11.26 and Ethiopia’s Abraham Semwho has run the distance in the best time of 8.10.73.

– We will certainly see a good competition with an even group. A few Ethiopians and Kenyans may stand out. A very even race in European terms. I’m trying to run the best result of the season. As usual, we will see a fast-paced race. I hope I can find a bit of an end to the legs already at this point, Raitanen said.

Raitanen enjoys playing golf in his spare time. Based on the weekend’s displays, the results on the greens are not at the same level as on the running track.
